Founded by Uzbekistan violinist Anna Tsukervanik and Taiwanese guitarist Ming-Jui Liu, Tsukervanik-Liu Duo is an awarded chamber group performing both essential and rarely-performed repertoire including new works from the twenty-first century.
Both acclaimed musicians in their own right, Anna worked and performed with such distinguished artists as Ilya Kaler, Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet, Mark Jackobs, Yael Weiss, and Ralph Kirshbaum, while Ming-Jui, as a soloist and a chamber musician he was invited to perform in Taiwan, Brazil, China, and the United States. In 2018, Ming-Jui was a festival artist and judge in the 4th Qinling Mountains International Guitar Festival (Shaanxi, China).
"...Arvo Duo’s performance is absolutely gorgeous. The interpretation is very expressive and passionate."
-João Luiz Rezende Lopes, Brasil Guitar Duo
Based on interest in similar repertoire, Canadian violinist Joenne Dumitrascu and Taiwanese guitarist Ming-Jui Liu began collaborating in the fall of 2015 while studying at Stony Brook University. The duo has been quickly building a reputation for exploring cross-genre repertoire as well as for their arrangements of standard chamber works. They take their name from Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a highly-influential figure during the 20th-century to whose works and style they were both immediately drawn to.
In 2017, Arvo Duo was invited to give a duo recital in the 25th Long Island Guitar Festival.
